ATP gives players more rest
The men’s ATP World Tour tennis is to have an extended seven-week off-season from 2012, giving its players more time to rest.
The calendar change was achieved by removing a free week between the Masters 1000 in Paris and the ATP World Tour Finals in London and rescheduling four late-season events to earlier in the year.
“The health and wellbeing of our players is a tour-wide issue and preserving and extending the playing careers of our top players is critical for the long-term good of the game,” said ATP World Tour executive chairman and president Adam Helfant.
“I think it’s good to have a longer off-season. I definitely think it’s a step in the right direction,” added world number two Roger Federer.
However, the Davis Cup finals are still scheduled for after the ATP finals, meaning players involved will have six rather than seven weeks’ rest.

Todd Combs
Billionaire Warren E. Buffet, announced that his company,
Berkshire Hathaway, has hired Todd Combs, a young hedge
fund manager to oversee a large part of its investment
portfolio. Combs, 39, managed Castle Point Capital Management
in Greenwich, Conn., for the last five years before joining
Berkshire Hathaway.
The New York Times says that after Berkshire spent the last
three years looking for a reputable executive to take over
a big chunk of its portfolio, which is worth more than
$100 billion, Combs emerged in the last few months as
a talented manager and a right fit for the company.

Brazil finds massive oil field
A newly-tapped oil field off the coast of Brazil could
contain up to 15 billion barrels of oil, officials say.
Brazil's national petroleum agency said the Libra field
most probably held around 8 billion barrels.
That matches the size of the giant Tupi oil field, whose
discovery in 2007 drew attention to Brazil's potential
as a major oil producer. If the 15 billion barrel figure
were confirmed it would double Brazil's known oil reserves.
It would also be the biggest oil field discovered in the
Americas since 1976, when Mexico found the giant Cantarell
field in the Gulf of Mexico. The Libra exploratory well is
located 183km (114 miles) offshore from Rio de Janeiro.
"The volume of recoverable oil belonging to the nation
could vary from 3.7 billion to 15 billion barrels, with
the most likely estimate being 7.9 billion barrels,"
the national petroleum agency (ANP) said in a statement.
