Murray’s chances of advancing further at the final ATP Masters
Series event of the year were boosted when 34-year-old Frenchman
Fabrice Santoro knocked out World No. 3 Novak Djokovic of Serbia
6-3, 6-2 in 70 minutes.
It is the second successive year that Djokovic has lost his opening
match in Paris. The 20-year-old will head to Shanghai with a 68-16
season record.
Santoro has now beaten three Top 10 players this year, including
then No.7-ranked Tommy Robredo in Dubai and No.5-ranked Andy
Roddick in Metz last week. Murray will face Santoro today in Paris.
