The Final: Federer vs. Ferrer

Defending champion Roger Federer produced one of his best-ever serving displays to defeat arch rival Rafael Nadal 6-4, 6-1 and power into Sunday's Tennis Masters Cup final. The ATP World No. 1 is chasing his fourth Masters Cup crown.

The Swiss will play unheralded Spaniard David Ferrer, who extended his unbeaten run at Shanghai on Saturday by clipping Andy Roddick 6-1, 6-3. Ferrer is attempting to become the first player to win the title on debut since countryman Alex Corretja in 1998.

with both players on top of their game it should be an explosive match fit for the match.

Ferrer, who is playing in his first career season-ending championships, has had the best week of any of the eight singles players in the competition having won all four matches that he's played to reach the final.

But Ferrer should definitely not be discounted as he is having the best year of his career. Ferrer has won three titles this season, reached his first grand slam semifinal at the U.S. Open and finished the season ranked within the elite top 10 for the first time.

And it's hard not to take notice that Ferrer's had an incredible week here beating Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Richard Gasquet and Andy Roddick.
The humble Ferrer, however, seems to still considers his slightly better ranked colleagues the better players. "You know, Rafa, Djokovic, Federer, they are better players," Ferrer said. "Me, I just pray well one tournament, or maybe two tournaments, but I am not with the same level than Federer, Djokovic or Rafa."

he will be looking for his first victory against Federer today. They've played seven previous matches and Federer has only lost one set in 15 that they've contested. Two of their matches took place this year, both on clay, and it was the last one at Hamburg where Federer finally slipped and let Ferrer take a set.

so let's hope for a great display
