After chalking up another win over the World No 2 Roger Federer, Andy will - back problems allowing - defend his Qatar Open title in Saturday's final with Andy Roddick.
Andy had to call for the trainer in the third and final set against Fed, and will have to keep an open mind on playing the final:
"If my back is going to be like this I won't play on Saturday," he said.
"It was getting stiff as the match progressed. My back has been giving me some problems ever since Abu Dhabi. I don't know whether it has something to do with the nature of the court, rather than the weather."
The American came through against Gael Monfis 7-6 (1) 3-6 6-3. A-Rod, who brings a big serve and big forehand has this to say on the match:
"In the final I'm gonna have to depend on what I know how to do, (and not focus on the opponent)."
Andy will go into the final as favourite, leading their head-to-head record 5-3. A walkover at Queen's aside, he hasn't lost to Roddick since 2007 and looked very comfortable against the American when they last met on hard court at the season ending Masters in Shanghai
