warming up the engines in Dubai



Playing his first match since winning the Australian Open title in January, World No. 1 Novak Djokovic swept into the second round of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Cedrik-Marcel Stebe on Monday evening.

The Serbian improved to a 21-2 record in Dubai as he broke serve three times from nine opportunities to defeat the No. 72-ranked Stebe in 88 minutes. He is bidding for a record fourth straight title in Dubai, having lifted the trophy in 2009 (d. Ferrer), 2010 (d. Youzhny) and 2011 (d. Federer).

Djokovic is playing just his second tournament of the year, after winning his fifth Grand Slam title in Melbourne with victory over Rafael Nadal in a scintillating final lasting five hours and 53 minutes.
